All three suggetsed hotels are across a street from San Francsico Zoological Garden. You can:

(1) take bus #23, coming form the ocean side, transfer to bus #28 on the 19th Avenue, and get off at Holloway-SFSU

(2) take bus #18, coming from the ocean side, and get off at Stownstown Galerea (a huge mall). SFSU is on a 3-minute walking distance from Stownstown.

Note: bus #18 follows another longer route, circumvening the Lake Merced from the ocean (west) side.
