(CM)²: Creating Momentum through Communicating Mathematics

(CM)² Partner Teacher
Mission High School

My name is Taica Hsu, which was derived from my parents' home countries: TAI-wan and ameri-CA. I've enjoyed mathematics since I was little, primarily as a result of being told (and believing) that I was good at it. It was not until college that I actually started to think about mathematics and, consequently, struggled to understand it. My own experience led me to teaching and has guided my desire to unlock the traditionally black-and-white discipline by convincing all students that they can do math. Accordingly, I attempt to infuse my classes with real world, social justice contexts that underscore the social and economic power of mathematics while demonstrating that we can have strengths in different areas; one is not simply "good" or "bad" at math.

Outside of teaching I love to dance, travel, and practice Tang Soo Do, a Korean martial art.
