(CM)²: Creating Momentum through Communicating Mathematics

Mathematics has always been a double-edged sword for me. Ever since I waslittle, I enjoyed math the most out of all my subjects studied, but it hasalso proven to be the most difficult to understand. Maybe that is why Igear up everyday to pass on the love-hate relationship to my Algebra and Geometry students at Thurgood Marshall Academic High School. I am entering my third year at TMAHS and I love it! I am currently implementing the Algebra Project at TMAHS and find a lot of joy in breaking new ground in exposing students to rigorous, meaningful, and accessible mathematical learning experiences. I believe that all students must gain mathematical literacy for our high-tech society and while the present landscape may look quite bleak for some groups of students, we all must keep pressing on toward that goal--because we WILL get there!
