Servando Pineda Carranza

(CM)² Graduate Student (2012-2013)

I was born in Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico and came to the US when I was a boy. I was raised in the Bay Area, graduating from Newark Memorial High School. When I finished high school and went directly to Chabot College, where I decided that I wanted to spend the rest of my life doing mathematics. In 2008 I transferred to UC Berkeley and got my B.A. in pure mathematics in 2010. After graduating I took some time off and worked at an amazing non-profit called College Track, where they help guide Oakland underrepresented high school students and get them into 4-year universities. I am now a proud SF State graduate student pursuing my love for Algebra and hoping to one day be the first in my family to get a M.A. and then my Ph.D. Fun facts: I'm proud father of my little Zelda Anahi, I love to go backpacking, former professional salsa dancer (competed worldwide in Team Division and placed 7th)
