(CM)²: Creating Momentum through Communicating Mathematics

Jessica Delgado

(CM)² Graduate Student (2012-2013)

I grew up in Monterey, CA and attended Monterey Peninsula College, Hartnell College and Cal State Monterey Bay before deciding to major in math at SFSU. As an undergrad I played volleyball, basketball and softball for my respective college. I have also held jobs spanning from YMCA sports coordinator to bartending at a dive bar to pay my way through school. I came to SFSU in my Junior year to finish out my softball career and get my math degree. I then made the decision to stay and earn my masters. My research involves discrete mathematics and combinatorics, basically I am fascinated by anything that is countable. When I am not doing awesome mathematics I enjoy surfing, swimming, playing beach volleyball or anything outdoors. I grew up on the beach and so I spend as much time there as possible, at one point in my life I considered becoming a pro surfer instead of coming to grad school. I am happy with my choice to continue on at SFSU and I'm hoping to earn my P.h.D in the future.
