This workshop is designed to
prepare students to excel in precalculus and calculus.
If you do not enroll in MATH 109 Precalculus this summer then the
Mathematics Summer Bridge will prepare you to take MATH 109 in the fall
and MATH 226 Calculus I in the spring.
Participating students will receive free copies of all necessary texts
and a graphing calculator. Participants will also:
* Learn how to do challenging assignments like those in
precalculus.
* Learn how to work collaboratively in student-to-student groups.
* Learn how to approach "word problems."
Finally, students who successfully complete the
Bridge/Workshop will receive a $600 stipend and be eligible for all
other LSAMP programs. However the most important
skill you will receive is the knowledge and basic skills for succeeding
in college mathematics. |
