The CSU-Louis
Stokes Alliance for Minority Participation
(CSU-LSAMP) is an academic support program whose goal is to broaden
participation in science, mathematics, engineering and technology
(STEM) disciplines and contribute to the national agenda to increase
the number of underrepresented minorities receiving baccalaureate
degrees in STEM disciplines. It
is no secret that a successful career in the sciences cannot be
achieved without a solid foundation in mathematics. Thus LSAMP
focuses on strengthening the mathematical and problem-solving
skills of its participating students. In addition to
lower-division science support LSAMP now supports participants to
who intend to apply to graduate programs. Historically students
who have participated in the LSAMP activities have successfully
completed their science majors.
If you are interested in participating in the CSU-LSAMP program
please download and complete the
Application Form.
The LSAMP program works very closely with the SFSU MESA
Engineering Program (MEP) and the
SFSU Student Enrichment
Opportunities (SEO) Program. The LSAMP program also has
cooperative arrangements with the CCSF/SFSU Bridges program
and the MESA program at Skyline College.
To be eligible for a
CSU-LSAMP program a student must be an a member of a group that has
traditionally been underrepresented in higher education or faces
social, cultural, educational, or economic barriers to careers in
STEM.
